RESPACE, leveraging its extensive expertise in transforming vacant spaces, played a crucial role in the rapid deployment of Wallonia’s vaccination centers during the COVID-19 pandemic, executed by Profirst. Over 41 vacant sites, totaling more than 25,000 m², were efficiently converted into fully operational vaccination hubs. These centers, critical to the Belgian Public Health Plan, facilitated the administration of nearly 1.8 million vaccines. This large-scale activation not only supported the public health infrastructure but also reactivated underutilized spaces, creating employment opportunities and reaffirming RESPACE’s commitment to societal impact through strategic space management.

These vaccination centers were strategically set up across Wallonia in locations such as Charleroi-Deme, Court-Saint-Etienne, Comines Warneton, Dinant, Gembloux, Tubize, Hastière, and Fleurus. Other key sites included Pamexpo, Philippeville, Perwez, and Gedinne, among others. The wide geographical coverage ensured accessibility for communities across the region, contributing to the efficient rollout of the vaccination campaign.
